In the beginning ….Part 2

The following morning while reading the paper I picked up the tickets to verify them.

I always look at the first 3 numbers and if they match I continue and if I they don’t I put them down and verify them anywhere with the scanners they have.

That morning the first three numbers matched ,so did the 4th,the 5th,the 6th and finally the 7th.

I had finally hit the jackpot…or so I thought.

I saw the date on the ticket , May 30 2008 , but I didn’t think much of it as the Depanneur owner said :

“We got them in on time,the clock said 8:59. The first ticket said May 23 2008.”

This morning I went straight back to that depanneur , for only the second time in my life , in less than 15 hours .

This time not to buy a ticket to win , but to confirm a ticket  that WON.

When I finally got there and scanned the ticket my heart stopped beating when it read “for following draw”.

I went back home , called my lawyer and told him the story and we set up to meet Monday at 7AM in the morning.

After the meeting a letter was sent to Loto  Quebec to get the ball rolling.

And roll it did.

In the beginning……Part 1

On May 23 2008 I went to a D.Q. and by coincidence parked in front of a depanneur.

I noticed a Loto Quebec advertisement for that nights’ Super 7 Jackpot of $27,000,000 . Having bought some tickets already , I decided to buy some more to increase my chances of winning.

I walked into the depanneur and asked the man behind the counter if I had time to buy tickets for tonight’s draw and this is how the conversation went:

Me:” Do I have time to buy tickets for tonight’s draw?”

Dep : ” The clock just turned to 8:59 so you have just under a minute”

Me : “OK,give me two tickets of 5 and the Extra ”

Dep : “We got them in on time , the terminal clock still says 8:59 “, as he looked and gave me the first ticket that printed.

The second ticket came out and he was confused.

Dep” I don’t understand , we got them in on time.My terminal said 8:59 . The first one came out and it said May 23 2008 but this one says May 30 2008,I don’t understand?”

Me :”well if you don’t understand,I don’t”

Dep:”Do you want the tickets ?”

Me: “Yes they’re mine, I want them”

Then I paid the $22 and walked out.

I will demonstrate to you how the Quebec consumer is put at a distinct disadvantage against the rest of Canada for the same lotteries mentioned above.
